His Excellency prosises to prepare a suitable naheze

which he will subalt to the Wai hi Pu for the considera-

tion of Sir R.Hart who will, after due deliberation,

instruct the Commissioner of Custome at Ganton to com-

muniente with H.B.M.fonsul-General,

I have communicated a paraphrase of this telegram to

the Inspector General with whom the future of the

question now appears largely to rast.
